According to data released by World Steel, the global crude steel output totaled 132 million tons in April, rising by 1.2% year on year.
In April, the EU produced 14.07 million tons of crude steel, decreasing by 4.9%; the CIS produced 8.91 million tons, falling by 6.9% and North America produced 10.07 million tons, decreasing by 5.7%; South America produced 3.95 million tons, down by 3% and Asia produced 88.54 million tons, rising by 4.7%, all compared to those in the same period of a year ago.
In the first four months of this year, the global crude steel output totaled 521 million tons, up by 1.9% year on year.
In the given period of time, Asia was the largest producer with 349 million tons, rising by 5.9%; the EU was the second largest one with 55.34 million tons, falling by 5.7%; North America was the third largest one with 39.80 million tons, decreasing by 5.6%, all compared to the figures in the same period of 2012.
